Men’s Casual dressing – More Mix Less Match

I have been searching through Pinterest, blogs and magazines; one trend that keeps grabbing my attention is “mix and match”. I love the look of multiple colors, textures and patterns paired together, in that perfectly imperfect way. It is not only interesting and fun but pulling off the perfect combination of mixed patterns can really make you stand out from the crowd.

Mix-Match suits are often a perfect choice for when the clock strikes 5 and the weekend is around! Here are some tips on how you can Mix and Match your Tailor made business suits to add a little class to your weekend get-togethers and Sunday brunches.

Mix/Match Look 1 - the first Mix Match look is the easiest one! Match the jacket of your suit with jeans and a shirt. You can hardly ever go wrong with this look! If you want to have a bit of fun and be creative experiment with your shirt. Try a patterned or check shirt instead of plain shirts with this look.

Mix/Match Look 2 – Having worn your business shirt for 5 days of the week and you are bored of it, why not try Jeans and jacket look with a T-shirt. A black or white T-shirt should work with most jacket colors.

Mix/Match Look 3 – Jacket with Knits – A perfect choice for the cooler months of the year. Try a V neck or a turtle neck knit with your jacket for a winter gathering and we promise, you will be dressed to impress!

Mix/Match Look 4 - Light color pants (cream, Beige, Khaki, brown) are a must have in your wardrobe and can work very well with dark color suit jackets (navy, black, charcoal)

Why just weekends you could try the Mix/match look for the wedding suit. If you are going for a rustic, vintage feel wedding you and your groomsmen can mix/match the colors and patterns of the suit and accessorize it with tie and suspenders.

Say “I Do” in a Blue Suit

Every man would like to look his best as he waits at that altar for his bride. This is the very reason why finding the perfect wedding suit is important for any groom. While all the attention is on bride and what she is wearing on the wedding day we believe the groom should be given equal importance.

When buying a wedding suit men often go for a black suit. While black suits are the most obvious choice for the wedding suit and one can’t go wrong with it, they can get be a bit boring too. So we suggest black suits should be worn to other formal occasions and funerals and groom must look at some unconventional choices for wedding suit colour.

Choosing the colour for the wedding suit largely depends on personal taste, wedding venue, time and style of wedding. Browns, creams and the more earthy tones are also a very popular choice for a wedding suit especially for the autumn months. Another colour that has been hugely popular is blue for weddings. Colour Blue symbolizes trust, truthfulness, loyalty and confidence. Navy blue suit is called a “banker’s suit” as it is associated with trust and truthfulness.

Blue Tuxedo for the wedding is such a pleasant change from the “usual black tuxedos”. Blue Tuxedos have been made popular by the new James Bond movie. James Bond has a taste for the finer things in life, and so it’s not uncommon for him to be sporting a black tie tuxedo while he saves the world. However James Bond is sporting a midnight blue Tuxedo in the Skyfall movie. So why not sport a 007 look at your wedding! If the wedding is not a very formal event and you want to steer away from the tuxedos you can also opt for a Navy a 2pc suit or 3pc suit. Choose a contrast colour vest to match the colour scheme of your wedding.

Light blue and white shirts are a perfect match for your blue suit. Add a black or brown pair of shoes to your blue suit to complete the look for the most special day of your life.

Your wedding is the most important and memorable day of your life and one must do it in style. While the bride spends months in shopping the perfect wedding dress it is equally important for the groom to look his smashing best on the special day.

Groom can choose to dress up for his wedding day in 3pc suit, 2pc suit or a tuxedo.

A 3pc tailor made wedding suit would be an ideal choice for a day wedding or if the wedding is not a very formal event. A tuxedo can only be worn to very formal or black tie events.

Where a 3pc suit is very versatile and can be worn again at many occasions.

The Three pc bespoke men’s suit is made of a vest (waistcoat), suit jacket and trousers.  A 3pc suit can make you look sharp as well as sophisticated on your wedding day. Groom can wear Ivory or cream vest to match the wedding gown of you bride. Or if the wedding theme is burgundy, the groom and groomsmen could opt for a burgundy vest with a grey suit and crisp white shirt. The colour and style options are unlimited with a 3pc suit. Add a cravat to the 3pc wedding suits to add more formal look to the attire.
Groom and bride often have a wedding theme and color scheme in mind. A 3pc wedding suit can give you the opportunity to match your vest to the color scheme of the wedding. If you want to use your suit time and again it would be a good idea to choose neutral colors.

Vest can be designed to suit your taste and personality. You can choose from single breasted or double breasted, V neck or with a satin collar vest.

Groom can wear his wedding suit minus the vest time and again for business and other formal occasions.

Why should you invest in a Bespoke Suit?

A branded suit in a departmental store could cost you close to $500 if not more and an off the rack suit for $500 does not come with a perfect fit guarantee. Ready made suits are made based on average sizing and there are very little chances that the suit is going to fit you perfectly as is. More than likely you will then have to get either the sleeve length altered or pants and jacket taken in to make sure the suit fits you well. This exercise could easily cost you between $100-$150 and add it up and you have in reality got the suit for $650. There is not much sense in spending that much on a suit if you have 100 other people wearing the same suit!

If you intend to spend anything over $500 on a suit then you are better off investing that money on a Bespoke suit. Bespoke in layman’s language means a clothing item made to the clients specification. You can even have a bespoke lounge or bespoke computer software, which means a product that has been customized to your specification. But the term Bespoke is often used only for men’s clothing.

The advantage of bespoke suits is that the buyer has total control over the fabric, the fit of the suit (weather a gym instructor who want a suit to fit him like a glove or you are a big bloke who prefers a relaxed fit) and the styling of the suit.

The biggest advantage of investing in a bespoke suit is that you are in the drivers seat and decide on the budget you want to spend, the fabric color, the lining color down to little details as weather you want 3 or 4 buttons on the sleeves. Bespoke tailors guarantee a perfect fit because they take 20 precise measurements of your body. Master tailor then will make a paper pattern based on those measurements just for you. With the 30 years of experience that our master tailors have at Bentex Suits, the chances are 95 out of 100 times suit will fit you perfectly.

Usually you would spend hours and hours of your time shopping around for a suit and trying out a few suits before you can finalize the one that you want and another few hours of your time to make sure that its altered to your measurements.

At Bentex Suits we take away the hours from your suit buying process. With us your bespoke suit requires only couple hours of your time and in 4 easy steps you will have your perfectly fitting customized suit just as you wanted it.

Step 1 – Fabric selection – based on what color and budget you have in mind our styling expert will show you the fabrics to choose from. Not only you get to choose the suit fabric you will also have an option of selecting a lining fabric.

Step 2 – Styling – We would then ask you if you have a style in mind. If you don’t have anything in mind there is nothing to worry. Our expert then will take you thru the styling options we have and will suggest you what will look good based on your body type and weather the suit is a particular occasion or a business suit. You will have a total control over each detail from the collar to the bottom cuff on the suit.

Step 3 – Measurements – Our expert will then take 20 precise measurements of your suit and will ask you the fit you prefer. Weather you like a relaxed fit, tapered fit or skinny fit.

Based on the above our master tailors in Hong Kong will hand craft your suit for you. In 4 -6 weeks time you will have the suit ready for deliver.

Step 4 – Fitting – Once the suit is available, we will then request you to come in for a fitting, which will not take any more than 30mins of your time. With the experience we have in bespoke suit 95% of the times the suit will fit you perfectly in the very first fitting but if you have lost or put on weight or would like some changes done to the fitting we will take care of it at no extra cost. Your perfect fitting suit will be delivered to you in no time.

What is the difference between Suit and Tuxedo?

We, at Bentex Suits often have grooms come to us who have no clue what the difference between suit and Tuxedo. Well, the main point of difference is the use of satin Tuxedos. Tuxedos have Satin facing on the lapels, satin covered buttons, satin pocket trim on pockets and a satin tape running down the side seam of your pants. Traditional tuxedo pants do not have belt loops on them, as you are not meant to be wearing belt with Tuxedo pants. Tuxedos have been made famous by James bond movies, that’s is why we also refer to Tuxedo or Dinner jacket as Bonds Jacket.

Suits typically will have collars made in same fabric as rest of the jacket with plastic buttons or you could even request buttons covered in self-fabric if you are getting your suits made. Suit pants have belt loops and can have cuffs.
The other point of difference would be the accessories that are worn with Tuxedos. Tux or Dinner jacket is usually worn with Dress Shirt, vest, Cummerbund and Bow Tie.
 ·       Dress Shirt – Dress shirt is not your usual business shirt. It’s a formal shirt with pin tucking detail at the front and comes with Wing collar or a 2inch classic collar and French cuff. Many people prefer to have contrast buttons on the placket – for example if you are wearing a black tux with white shirt you could have contrast buttons on the placket which will match back to your dinner jacket.
·       Vest – Dinner suits/Tuxedos are also worn together with vest to complete the look. The front of the vest is made in same fabric as suit and the back is made in satin fabric. To add more glamour to your Tuxedo you can also opt for contrast vest or a double-breasted vest.
·       Cummerbund – is a sash made in satin fabric same fabric as collar lapel and buttons and is worn around the waist.
·       Bow Tie – Bow Tie is also made in the same satin fabric as cummerbund and collar lapel. There are clip on bow ties or the traditional tie it your-self bow tie.
·       Shoes – Tuxedos must be worn with Shiny patent leather shoes only and preferably with laces.
Suits are usually worn with Basic men’s dress shirt, vest and a Necktie.
Most common colors for Tuxedos/Dinner Jackets are Black, Grey and White. If you want to be a hint different try a navy blue Tuxedo - like the one in the latest 007 movie or the once from the latest SAG awards red carpet!
